Peonies Battenberg Cake (Square Wrap Cake) Workshop by Overseas Instructor Keem Ooi

(Vegetarian & Halal Friendly workshop)

Our overseas guest instructor, Keem Ooi (@keempossible_2) with 120K+ followers on Instagram, has captivated many with her gorgeous patterned cake designs.  She is returning to teach in Singapore in July 2022 and ArtZ Baking & Culinary will be hosting all her hands-on studio workshops in our cosy studio at Lavender.

Learn how to create this pretty Peonies Battenburg Cake under the guidance of our talented instructor.

Learning Points:

• Mix a sheet cake batter from scratch (Pair Work)
• Creating & Piping artistic & intricate patterns on silicon sheets (Individual Work)
• Preparing the main batter and Bake (Combination of Pair / Individual Work)
• Vanilla Whipped Cream filling (students can choose to make other types of fillings they like at home) – Demo / pre-prepared by Studio staff (depending on time constraints)
• Techniques & Tips to assemble Patterned Battenburg Cake with twin-coloured sponge cake and vanilla cream  (Individual Work)
• Brush Painting to enhance design (Individual Work)
• Colour Coordinating Details (Individual Work)
• Q&A Session

Kindly note that this is originally a minimum 7-hour workshop, studio will pre-bake the twin-colour sponge cake ahead of workshop for students to assemble the Battenberg / Wrap Cake for more efficient workshop time management and ease/comfort for students.

 Level: Beginners and Up

Participants will bring home your own Cake Creation, Recipe, Template and 1 free Silicon Baking Sheet.

Nice to have: Please bring along a long Cooler Bag to bring your Cake Creation home.

All Tools and Cake Boxes will be provided for Keem’s workshops.

Students may choose to purchase from ArtZ Baking & Culinary the 2 custom-made trays we used for this workshop, separately for Home Practice use.  They are not available for sale in local baking shops.

Bio Instructor Keem

Keem Ooi is a talented Artisan Baker & Baking Instructor who has dazzled social media users globally with her beautifully patterned cake designs and desserts.  Her Instagram account @keempossible_2, with 120K+ followers, gained prominence when her intricate hand-drawn cake designs, went viral.

Her online profile exhibits her diverse creations, from vintage floral designs to a recreation of cute characters and animals.  Keem has since been featured in several publications including New Straits Times.

Keem conducts baking workshops to teach her signature and gorgeous roll cakes and non-bake vanilla cheesecakes, besides taking some orders for her patterned cakes.

Registration Process

1. Kindly confirm with Sharon via WhatsApp at +65-9688 2777 if there are still available seats for the workshop before proceeding with the online registration.
2. Complete the registration online by clicking “Add to Cart”, followed by “View Cart”, then “Proceed to Checkout”. Complete your particulars & add remarks in the section “Order Notes (optional)” eg Workshop Date / Time (if more than 1 option is available), Account Holder Name (if different from the name you registered for the class) and your Friend’s name & hp number if you are signing up for others.
3. Please make Payment via Paynow / Paylah / Bank Transfer etc. with remarks during transfer your Name (if your account holder name is different from the name you registered for the class), Order number & Class Date.
4. Important Step: Whatsapp Sharon at +6596882777 with a screenshot of payment receipt & Online Order # and advise participant’s mobile number (if you are making payment on behalf of others).
5. Once payment & payment receipt has been sent, your booking is confirmed and we will reserve a seat(s) for you.
6. Two days before the workshop, we will send out reminder WhatsApp messages, address, map, directions & a list of things to take note of to all paid participants.
